Area youth invited to first flight experience

Daniel Williams • Jun 28, 2012 at 10:35 AM

Have a child in your life who's fascinated with flying?

The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter #50 in Huron makes it possible for area youth to receive  free airplane rides and insider knowledge about operating aircraft.

The international EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give youngsters, ages 8 - 17, an opportunity to soar in a general aviation airplane free of charge. With the help of EAA adult volunteer pilots, interested youth have the opportunity to explore the field of aviation at no cost.

Pilots of the EAA donate their resources with hope their efforts will not only inspire kids to be fearless navigators of the sky, but to also encourage them to  follow their dreams in general.  While Young Eagles take to the air, other members of the EAA support the event on the ground by teaching children the basics of flight.

At the end of the event, each Young Eagle will receive a free EAA Student Membership sponsored by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, along with free access to Sporty’s Online Ground School and membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics.

To make arrangements for free airplane rides contact Bob, EAA Chapter #50's Young Eagles Coordinator, at 419-668-3604, and for more information visit www.youngeagles.org.

This program is designed to introduce children to flight in general aviation aircraft, and is open only to those who have not yet participated in the program.
