Crazy train leaves fires in its wake

(UPDATED WITH VIDEO) A troublesome train shooting sparks from its wheels caused a series of field fires — and one structure fire — along a stretch of railroad tracks in Sandusky County, firefighters said.

Crews from six fire departments began battling the blazes at about 3 p.m. Friday, just after the train tore through the area. The trouble was limited mostly to field fires, but at least one farmer's building caught fire and burned to the ground.

“As far as we can tell it was caused by a train engine,” Kansas fire Capt. Jim Reinhart said. “It’s gonna be mostly crop damage, but we don’t have any estimates right now.”
