An Erie County jury has found Denarea Swain, 25, of Sandusky, not guilty of attempted murder in a decision handed down late Wednesday afternoon.

The jury did, however, find Swain guilty of various other charges. They include engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, possession of crack cocaine, selling crack cocaine and two counts of having a weapon while under disability.

Swain faces a minimum of six years in prison and a maximum of 42 years, according to prosecutors.

Sandusky police testified that Swain shot into a crowd of people in June 2010 at Hancock and Neil streets during an episode of gang violence.

Read Thursday's Register for comments about the verdict from Erie County prosecutor Kevin Baxter and Swain's defense attorneys.
