Men accused of vigilante justice

Two Sandusky men ended up in jail Sunday after confronting an alleged purse thief at gunpoint, according to Sandusky police reports.

Cedrick Brown, 25, of the 200 block of Townsend St., and Darrius Martin, 19, of the 1200 block of Buchanan St., were both charged with aggravated menacing, inducing panic, assault and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors.

Martin told police he and Brown tracked down First Street resident Tyler Nutter, 18, at about 4:30 p.m. and confronted him about stealing from their family member.

Nutter had already appeared in court last week on charges of misdemeanor theft for the alleged crime.

Still, Martin and Brown went looking for him, the report said, and they caught up with him in the 1500 block of Hayes Ave. When Nutter denied stealing the purse, Martin punched him in the face and pulled out a Smith & Wesson .38 Special, the report said.
