Erie County's township association voted 8-1 in favor of splitting the $450,000 one-time bonus money from FirstEnergy Solutions. The money comes after voters in all townships agreed to a nine-year aggregation plan.
Perkins Township, which has the largest population — and thus more electric meters — voted for an option where they would have received more money based on population.
All nine townships and Erie County will receive an equal portion of the grant, or about $45,000 each.
