Teams pull jet plane to raise money for charity

There were no sore passengers but maybe some sore muscles when a Boeing 737 jetliner moved forward just a dozen feet at a time at Cleveland Hopkins Airport.

More than 400 people took part in a charity plane pull on Sunday to help the airport celebrate its 85th anniversary. Twenty-two teams heaved on a 60-foot rope to see which could pull the Continental Airlines jet 12 feet in the shortest time.

The winners -- weightlifters from a suburban gym called Gorilla Pit -- finished in less than 6 seconds.

To compete, the teams had to collect at least $500 for Special Olympics Ohio. The contest raised more than $17,000 for the group.
