Police are searching for a pajama-clad robber who dashed off from a local convenient store with a handful of cash Wednesday morning.

A white man wearing red pajamas with a white star and moon print entered the Mickey Mart on Milan Avenue at about 4 a.m. and told the clerk he had a gun, Norwalk police Sgt. Jim Fulton said. He never showed a weapon but demanded money from the cash register and left with $187.

The man's face was not visible, but his clothing stood out. He was between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 140-170 pounds. Witnesses said he ran southwest from the store, then jumped into a car and drove through the grass. Police did not get a description of the car but are following several leads, Fulton said.

The store closed for several hours after the robbery but reopened by about 6:30 a.m. A manager at Mickey Mart did not return a call for comment.
