LETTER: Learn for free

Commentary • Apr 29, 2010 at 4:12 AM

The Bellevue Library isn't just a place to find a good book to read, you can learn anything! Granted our library does not always have the book you may want, but you can request it from one of the other libraries in the CLEVENET system. You can learn a new language, read about world history and other cultures, find a new recipe for dinner or learn a new craft. You can even learn how to play an instrument.

Anything you cannot find in a book, you can find online. With the free Internet computers, you can not only play games and check e-mails, but you can also find a job or even take a college class online.

From the oldest person to the youngest child, the library can help them learn anything. You might have to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for learning things you can learn for free at the library. All you need is a library card.

My library has taught me how to cook, how to crochet and improve my knitting, how to make toys from clean everyday socks, and in general, to be the most creative and ambitious person I can be.
