Elyria's Brick wins Senior HOF tournament at Plum Brook

The Toro guy mowed down the opposition Tuesday to capture the 2011 Ohio Senior Hall of Fame Championship at Plum Brook Country Club.

Norton Brick, 58, of Elyria became the 19th different winner in the 20-year history of the 36-hole medal play event with a two-day total of 140, followed by Randy Reifers (Columbus) who again finished second by two strokes, this time with a 142 total.

A first-time participant, Brick grabbed the opening-day lead with a three-under-par 68 in which he felt good about his game. However, he was not that happy with the 72 in the final 18 holes.

"I guess you could say I survived. My drives went south on me today compared to yesterday when everything I hit was long and straight," Brick said. "Today I hit the ball all over the place and not much good of anything happened.

"I had a five-shot lead after nine but Randy closed it to two on No. 12 after I doubled that hole. A birdie on No. 13 settled me down and I had pars the rest of the way," the Oberlin Golf Club member said.
