The Fliers dropped seven spots Monday in the latest Associated Press State Football Poll, but they likely won't fall much in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Playoff Rankings, which will be released today.
After a 20-17 overtime loss to Perkins on Friday, Clyde went from No. 1 in Division III to No. 8. The Fliers (7-1, 4-1) began at No. 6 when the first rankings were released Sept. 13.
Undefeated Western Reserve, which could clinch a share of the Firelands Conference title with a win Friday against New London, is up another spot to No. 6 in Division IV. The Roughriders (8-0, 6-0), 42-34 winners Friday against Ashland Crestview, landed in the No. 13 position in the initial poll.
Clyde, seeking a Sandusky Bay Conference title for a fourth consecutive year, has a key game against Oak Harbor (6-2, 4-1). The Fliers and Rockets are tied with Huron atop the league standings.
Other teams of local interest include:
• Tiffin Columbian, No. 7 in Div. III
• Napoleon, No. 15 in Div. III
• Genoa, No. 4 in Div. IV
• Clear Fork, No. 9 in Div. IV
• Fremont St. Joe, No. 13 in Div. VI
This is the sixth of eight weekly polls voted on by members of the Associated Press.
