The public is invited to attend, along with all law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency responders in Erie County, as well as their families.
The Blue Mass is 11:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave. The ceremony follows at 12:45 p.m. at the police and fire memorial in front of the Erie County Courthouse.
A bagpiper and the Erie County Firefighters Honor Guard will lead a silent procession to the memorial. The public is encouraged to join the march.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the ceremony will be moved to Knights of Columbus Hall.
A reception will follow the ceremony at 1:15 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 614 Columbus Ave. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided.
All participating public safety personnel will be lined up in uniform on the sidewalk in front of the church. Seats will be reserved for personnel in the front, near the altar. The bagpiper will lead the Erie County Firefighters Honor Guard and other uniformed personnel into the church with the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard.
