Waugh reminds readers that she didn't choose to be fat

"We all do better when we work together. Our differences do matter, but our common humanity matters more." - Bill Clinton

Before I get to the events of this past week, I would like to apologize to anyone out there who took my comments about Curves in the wrong way.

I would never slam Curves. As a matter of fact, I think that Tanya and her staff at the Port Clinton Curves are terrific, caring people and you couldn't ask for a better group of ladies to work out with other than the clients.

However, the circuit was not enough for my needs and I assure everyone, I was sweating when I finished. I meant no offense, I was simply stating fact.

Also, to those who believe that obesity is a personal choice, I'll throw one person's words back at them "horse pucky!"

I'm here to tell you that I, personally, have eaten a properly balanced diet for years and I am still obese; face it, I'M FAT!

I won't blame it on fast food or medical problems or even the fact that I sit eight hours a day at work, but I DO NOT choose to be this way and NO ONE chooses to be.

All I, and the others in this challenge, ask for is for the readers to give us a chance and the support that we need to change our lifestyles. Ultimately, this is not about diet and exercise, it is about a change in our lifestyles.

OK, now that those points have been made, I didn't get to work out with personal trainer Trevor Tieche of Bodi N Balance at all this past week, but I did not sit idle either.

IndoRow classes, the treadmill and a short circuit class at (of all things) 5:30 a.m. took care of my exercise needs.

I actually did something I never thought to accomplish, I walked 3.1 miles, which equals 5K.

It took me an hour and a half, but I've been told that time doesn't matter, the fact that I did it is what matters and that I plan on doing it again and again and again until I feel comfortable with doing it!
