He was the “wolf man” and “the connector” this past year.
To kick off 2014, he’ll be part of a cast hoping to poke fun at one of the world’s hottest erotic romance novels.
Sandusky native Tim Murray will soon star in “50 Shades! The Musical” a parody of the best-selling 2011 book series “50 Shades of Grey” Performances begin Friday at the Elektra Theatre in New York City, with an official debut March 12.
The show is billed as a “sexy, hilarious story chockfull of wrestling singlets, handcuffs and helicopters with silly names” according to its website.
This summer, I interviewed Murray as part of the Register’s “Where are they now?” series, which highlights local graduates. At that time, the 2006 Sandusky High School graduate starred in his first Off-Broadway show, as well as an MTV promotional YouTube ad alongside stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx.
As with those experiences, Murray is certain his local roots helped him land the job. He used footage of him dancing as a Cedar Point entertainer to showcase his experience.
Murray told me “50 Shades! The Musical” is his largest undertaking yet — and the funniest, too.
“It feels amazing to be able to live in New York City as an actor, instead of waiting tables, which I’ve done on and off for the last three years” he said. “I’m so grateful to have so much support and to have been exposed to the arts growing up in Sandusky”
