“Our deeds determine us, as much as we determine our deeds.” – George Eliot

• Make a Difference Day is Saturday, Oct. 26. There are lots of volunteer projects in our area that you can help with. Please call The Volunteer Center to see what kind of difference you could make. All volunteers will be treated to a catered breakfast to start their day.

• Volunteer guardians for senior citizens are needed to make sure that these seniors are looked after and not taken advantage of. No legal issues or handling of finances are involved.

• Please save your toilet paper and paper towel tubes (the cardboard that the paper comes on) to be used for an ongoing children’s art project. You can drop off any amount at The Volunteer Center whenever you’d like.

• Other paper products like plates, cups and napkins are greatly needed by a local food pantry.

• Have any new or gently used purses? A local agency could use them to help their clients.

• Volunteers are needed to tutor children in a supervised after school program.

• Our local park system is looking for individuals to help stain park benches before winter.

• Families who would like to volunteer together can get involved with Family Volunteer Day on Saturday, Nov. 23, a fun event involving activities based around the Ohio State/Michigan football game.

• Are you retired from the healthcare field? Our local hospital would love to have your help one a day a week and has many positions to choose from.

• Regular or trial sizes of toothpaste, lotion, body wash and shampoo are needed by an organization that helps seniors.

• A local food pantry would like help with packing food boxes, doing light housekeeping, light landscaping and answering phones.
