Hoefert: Armed Forces Day needs sponsor

Excerpt: For those who forget to remember, the following events will take place May 18, which happens to be this upcoming Saturday.
A. Cedar Point’s new roller coaster, GateKeeper, celebrates its one-week anniversary of being open to the public.
B. The first day of pole qualifications for the 97th Indianapolis 500.
3. The 138th running of the Preakness Stake.
D. The Cleveland Indians play at home against the Seattle Mariners.
That’s right, from roller coast tracks to race tracks and the Indians being on track with my preseason prediction of losing only 72 games this season, this Saturday promises to be a day you won’t forget to remember.
In fact, the public relations departments of the business mentioned above have spent a lot of time and money luring potential customers to spend a lot of time and money on their products.
Plus, the makers of your favorite beverage and other products often get in bidding wars with their competition to advertise their product as the “Official Sponsor” of one or more of the above-mentioned events scheduled for this Saturday.
So, for those who will celebrate Armed Forces Day this Saturday, it makes me wonder who in Washington is in charge of public relations to line up an “Official Sponsor” of the day we honor our Armed Forces.
