DeWine is everywhere

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine might be the most traveled state AG in recent history.

He also has shown himself to be one of the most accessible.

DeWine was there after Cleveland police officers killed an unarmed couple in a vehicle, and the investigation his office conducted was exhaustive and reached difficult conclusions. Most of the bureaucracy was not happy about the conclusion, which called for reform inside the police department to eliminate bad practices and poor responses.

The police chief, and the opposing union representing the officers, were both disappointed by DeWine’s findings.

That might suggest he hit the nail on the head.

In Steubenville, DeWine has served as an authority among law enforcement and the community demanding follow-through on the rape of a teenager by two football players, and the subsequent potential criminal obstruction charges that could result from an investigation that was initially stymied by institutional foot-dragging.

DeWine has pressed the issue of sexual assault in a powerful way, and is demanding accountability from witnesses who did nothing to stop a crime.
