Rounding up what's happening at Sandusky City Hall

Anonymous • Jan 22, 2013 at 11:10 AM

This week I have a rundown of what is happening at City Hall.

Engineer’s position: An ad has been placed for the engineer’s position with Feb. 15 as the deadline for applications to be in. Depending on the applications, the city hopes to get someone hired as soon as possible.

Master Code Professional: Steven Brown, Inspector, in Engineering has earned his certification of Master Code Professional from the International Code Council. Steve is one of 700 people to hold this honor. Congratulations Steve!

Apex Building: Partners will be heading the Brownfields project.  Documents are being prepared by the Law Department and outside counsel so the firm can issue RFPs for certain services.

Leadership Program: The City Commissioners will be enrolling in Fireland’s Government Leadership Program. Improving leadership skills is always good training and it is money well spent.

DC Filter: Partners will be managing the Brownfields part of the project. The City Manager met with project engineers and property owners regarding logistics since the city is coordinating draw downs and related paperwork between the State and property owner.

Planning Department: Carrie Handy and her assistant will be directly under the supervision of Ms. Ard instead of Engineering.

Code Enforcement: Code Enforcement is now under the supervision of Chief Ricci instead of the Engineering Department.

Community Focus Group Meetings: The City is hosting the following public meetings to obtain citizen’s thoughts and ideas regarding different programs and services to help the city plan for future budgeting and operations.

January 23, 6:00 p.m., 5000 Providence Drive at the Commons of Providence’s Community Room.
