Ohio and Ohio State, no losses and two great bands

It's a good year for schools named Ohio on the football field, both for the teams carrying the ball and the teams carrying instruments.

The football Bobcats and Buckeyes are both undefeated (knock on wood for he Bobcats) and the marching bands are racking up the views on YouTube with their half time performances.

When I started at Ohio University sometime last millennium the football games were where you would go to see the Marching 110 and then leave after half time. Now the Bobcats have a reason to stay for pregame, half time and all four quarters of the game. The Marching 110 has made international fame with their performances of Party Rock Anthem and Gangnam Style. The Ohio State Marching Band has over 13 million views of their recent show featuring classic video games. The performances can be watched below.

I took my boys on assignment to Port Clinton a couple weeks ago to see the Ohio State Marching Band perform at True Lay Stadium. My oldest son Will is a Buckeye fan and his younger brother Payton sometimes sides with his brother and sometimes sides with his father. I'm a Bobcat alum and a fan of "that team up North" as Buckeye fans like to call it. The boys and I weren't disappointed in the performance, the double Script Ohio was pretty cool, and were also able to meet Brutus the Buckeye on the sidelines of the game.

So here's to another month of college football and marching band performances. Whether your a TBDBITL or Marching 110 fan, you are sure to be entertained.
