I love the variety of choices that are a part of modern life in the 21st century. But sometimes the pressure to make a decision becomes overwhelming.
My favorite soft drink is Mountain Dew.
In the good old days, deciding which variety of Mountain Dew to drink was pretty simple. Until well into the 1980s, there was one flavor. For the sake of simplicity, it was called "Mountain Dew."
Those were the days.
Diet Mountain Dew was introduced in 1988. After that came a sugary, carbonated deluge.
Nowadays, there is Caffeine-Free Mountain Dew, Caffeine-Free Diet Mountain Dew, Code Red, Diet Code Red, LiveWire, Baja Blast, Voltage, Throwback, Whiteout, Diet SuperNova (if you shake the can too hard, does it explode and destroy everything in your area of the galaxy?) and Dark Berry.
I can't keep up with all of these flavors. How will I cope when Mountain Dew Michel Foucault or Mountain Dew Higgs boson comes out? I think I'd be afraid to try Mountain Dew Code Blue.
At least I don't have to worry about trying Mountain Dew Game Fuel Alliance Blue, Mountain Dew Kryptonite Ice or Darth Dew. They apparently aren't available anymore, according to the incredibly detailed Wikipedia article, which boasts 108 footnotes.
