Need a cat? Now's a good time to get one.

Erie County Humane Society has announced a sale, with the adoption fees for cats under three years old slashed from $60 to $15. The cats will still have their first shots and will be spayed or neutered, ready to go out the door and sit in your lap on a cold winter's day, or mount patrols for mice who are trying to sneak into the house as the weather turns cold.

As usual, fees are waived for cats three years old or older.

"With the weather getting colder, we will be getting lots of cats and kittens into the shelter," said Amy Porter, executive director of the Erie County Humane Society. "We'd like to make room for all of them by finding loving homes for the ones we already have now. We have all sizes, colors and ages from 8 weeks old on up."

The Humane Society is located at 1911 Superior State in Sandusky. Adoption hours are 1-6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday and 1-4 p.m. Saturday. The telephone is 419-626-6220.
