Facebook is the devil

I used to be a smoker. I didn't start until I was 21 and I quit a couple years ago. I have the occasional stress-related craving every once in a while, but nothing too major.

I don't think I was ever "addicted" to nicotine. And if I was it was never the addiction I now have to Facebook.

It could be that it is new to me and I am reconnecting with former coworkers, old friends from college, high school and even elementary school, but I seriously have a problem. I mean, look at me, I'm blogging about it. But the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Now since I don't smoke anymore and there are coworkers at any job who still do smoke, is it okay for me to take a laptop out on their smoke breaks and get my Facebook fix in the time that it takes for them to get their nicotine fix?

That probably isn't an option. One of the worst parts of smoking, aside from the incessant coughing and feeling winded after a flight of stairs, is standing outside in subzero temperatures puffing away.

I did the whole MySpace thing and made a pretty page and found some old friends. I wasn't hooked like my current status with Facebook. MySpace must have been my "gateway" website.

But I am happy with all people with whom I have reconnected and I'm mostly sure this is just a phase.
