Dogs, cats on sale

Tom Jackson • Mar 23, 2010 at 6:27 PM

The Erie County Dog Warden and the the county humane society are both making extra efforts to find homes to adopt their animals.

The dog warden will have a booth at Corso's, 3404 Milan Road, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with four dogs who are ready to go home.

There will also be brochures and information packets about the pound, Dog warden Barb Knapp says.  If you bring the kids to see the doggies, you can feed your family at easy-on-the wallet prices: There will be hot dogs for 99 cents, plus popcorn, cider and donuts. Proceeds from the food sales will go to help the pound.

Know an older person who needs a pet? The Erie County Humane Society is waiving adoption fees for anyone 60 years old or older who wants to adopt an animal. (The humane society's shelter is overflowing with cats, so the selection is good now.) Adoption fees for everyone else for both cats and kittens are just $30, half the usual price.
