Bellevue junior Raifsnider reaches milestone

Fandy.com Staff • May 12, 2015 at 5:32 PM

Aside from Bellevue allowing a season-low 18 points in Monday's win, junior Leslie Raifsnider reached a milestone.

Needing 29 points to reach 1,000 in her three-year career, the junior scored a game-high 30 points and had five rebounds in the 60-18 win against Port Clinton.

"We stopped the game and gave her the game ball," Bellevue coach Ryan Orshoski said Monday night.

Raifsnider averages 19 points per game for Bellevue (14-1), which plays today at Galion. But her leadership and decision making adds to the offense she brings, Orshoski said.

"I just can't say enough about Leslie. As great a player as she is, she's even a better person," he said. "I think she was very humbled by the reaction."

Both Bellevue and Port Clinton fans showed their support and she appreciates that, I'm sure."

Emily Eskins added 10 points in the win for Bellevue, Michelle Carr pulled down seven rebounds, Kristin Sochko had six points and five steals, and Cory Hartley had four assists.

Mary Kirkpatrick and Tiffany Colston scored four points each in the loss for Port Clinton, which was playing without Hope Thorbahn.

With Raifsnider's milestone out of the way, Orshoski said the team can focus on other accomplishments this season.

"We have our goals in front of us," he said. "This was a great night for our program and Leslie, and now we can go full steam ahead toward our goals."

The Lady Red (12-0 in the Northern Ohio League) have a conference game against Galion today, weather permitting, and at home Friday against Shelby. They also play Tiffin Columbian and Willard.
