PLYMOUTH — Four players reached double digits in New London’s 55-44 win over Plymouth Friday in Firelands Conference boys’ basketball action.
The Wildcats improved to 5-8 overall, 5-5 in the league, while the Big Red dropped to 5-8 and 4-6.
New London is scheduled to play Friday at Crestview in FC action, while Plymouth goes to Mansfield St. Peter’s tonight for a non-league contest.
Clay Hall led the winners with 19 points. Corey Smith netted 12 points, Clay LaFleur put in 11 and Andrew Hopkins added 10.
The Wildcats converted seven three-point field goals. Smith had four, Hall two and Dane Held one.
The Wildcats led 18-9 after the first quarter and 30-21 at halftime. Plymouth cut into the deficit with a 16-10 third-quarter advantage, but New London bumped the margin up with a 15-7 fourth difference.
The Wildcats shot 22-of-39 from the field and 4-of-9 from the free-throw line with 27 rebounds and eight turnovers.
LaFleur and Hopkins each pulled down six rebounds, while Held dished out 10 assists.
Levi Myers paced Plymouth 11 points, while Kyle Reinhart and Tyler Hicks added nine each. Reinhart cashed in on a pair of threes, while Craig Miller hit one.
The Big Red shot 17-of-40 from the field and 4-of-8 from the charity stripe with 22 rebounds and 10 turnovers.
