UPPER SANDUSKY — The Norwalk Truckers held on for a 49-47 win in their final trip to Upper Sandusky for boys’ basketball.

The Northern Ohio League win upped Norwalk's mark to 4-2 overall and   3-1 in the NOL.

The Rams are headed to the North Central Conference next season.

“I’m excited, this was a big win for us,” Norwalk coach Steve Gray said. “We gutted it out and I’m very, very proud of these kids. I’m going to miss competing against Upper in the NOL.”

The Rams led 12-9 after one quarter but saw the Truckers take a 21-18 halftime lead.

Upper was on top 35-34 after three.

The fourth quarter was tight, with Norwalk going up 48-44 late before  hanging on for the 2-point win.

“The thing tonight was there was no energy in the crowd,” Gray said.  “And with their style of play, they tried to put everybody to sleep.

“They did a great job of controlling the tempo,’’ the coach added. “We did a terrible job on weak-side defense, but it’s all fixable. These kids want to get better and are working hard in practice.”

Junior Jacob Cashen led Norwalk with 15 points.

Freshman Jeff Thomas added 11 points, while frosh Ben Haraway scored eight.

“And I thought we had good minutes off the bench from Trey Hallock,   Chianti Ghalson and Dirk Weisenburger,” Gray said.

Evan Logsdon paced Upper with 17 points.

Norwalk was 20-of-37 from the floor and 8-of-19 at the free-throw line.

The Truckers had 11 turnovers and 13 rebounds.
