All good things must come to an end.

For Sandusky Post 83 baseball, two significant streaks came to an end Wednesday afternoon in a 18-11 loss to Napoleon at the American Legion state tournament in Lancaster.

The loss snapped a 12-game winning streak for Post 83 (34-8) that began at the Carlton Classic tournament at Adrian, Mich., and carried through the 5th District tournament and the first three games of the state tournament.

It also ended a 13-game winning streak at the state tournament, as Post 83 went unbeaten while winning back-to-back state titles at the 2008 and 2009 tournaments.

With the loss, Post 83 fell to the loser's bracket final in the double-elimination event, where it will play Pickerington at 1 p.m. today.

The team must beat Pickerington (40-4) to advance to the finals, where it would face Napoleon (46-8) at 7 p.m.

Post 83 would then need to beat Napoleon to force a decisive winner-take-all game Friday for the state championship.
