Post 83 pounds Lima at state

Trailing by four runs in the fourth inning, Sandusky Post 83 picked up its game in the middle three innings of Monday's State Legion Tournament opener against Lima.
Eventaully, Post 83 pummeled Lima for an 18-7 win as Kyle Fluharty homered and came on in relief of starter Brady Smith for the win.
"Obviously you want to start with the win to avoid the losers bracket. The first win is important, the second one is more important," Post 83 associate coach Mike Shepherd said. "It's a long way through the losers bracket. We want to stay in the winners bracket as long as possible. If we play our baseball, I think we'll be alright."
Fluharty (Willard) threw six innings, allowed five runs -- two were earned -- with five strikeouts and a walk.
Brady Smith (Sandusky) threw the first inning, then came out in the second.
"He didn't look really sharp like he had his stuff. Seeing Brady throw this summer, when he's got it he's got it," Shepherd said.
