The Norwalk baseball team managed to play five innings of Saturday's doubleheader with visiting Elyria Catholic before the rain washed away the rest of the action.
The Truckers did post a 7-5 win, however, to improve to 10-2 overall and set themselves up for a big week ahead in the Northern Ohio League.
Collin Souter had a big day at the plate for Norwalk, going 3 for 3 with two singles, a two-run home run and four RBIs.
Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth, Norwalk got a pinch-hit single by Nate Light and a pinch-hit RBI double by Ethan Rhodes.
Logan Shullick also doubled for the Truckers while Cam Wrabel hit an RBI single. The other hits were a pair of singles from Dustin Lieber and Isaac Perry.
Garrick Smith (2-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Michael Finch, pitching a perfect top of the fifth. Finch went the first four innings and allowed five runs, two of which were earned, on seven hits.
Sitting alone atop the NOL, the Truckers host Bellevue (8-2, 2-1) on Monday, Columbian (7-2, 3-1) on Tuesday and visit Shelby (7-3, 2-1) on Thursday.
"We put ourselves in a great position," Norwalk coach Wes Douglas said. "We know we're facing three strong teams and this is what w'ere looking forward to.
"We are feeling confident and will see what happens. It would be great to play them all."
