Hot and spicy is exactly the vibe that salsa dancing brings to the popular ABC-TV reality show “Dancing with the Stars.” Well get ready, because your chance to show off your Latin moves is coming up at the inaugural Salsa Dance Party Oct. 23 at All About Dance Productions studio in Huron.

“It’s in high demand, and a lot of our students have a passion for Latin and salsa dancing,” said All About Dance co-owner Cari Pisano, a 1994 Huron High School graduate. “They feel like they have to travel to

Cleveland or Toledo to be able to go to clubs that offer this kind of dancing. Now we’re bringing it locally so we can offer it once a month or as the demand increases we might do it twice a month.”

The evening kicks off with a half-hour salsa lesson from All About Dance Productions’ co-owner, Norwalk resident and Pisano’s dance partner Tim Warner followed by a half-hour lesson in new popular dance bachata by Heidelburg College’s Dr. Steven Valasquez, who has been teaching ballroom dancing for several years. Next will be a three-hour dance party for attendees to show off their moves.

Already in social media circles Pisano said the Salsa Dance Party has quite a few followers. When that number is added to her current two dozen swing students and salsa students, this open-to-the-public event could prove quite popular.

“I think it’s going to be a huge demand,” Pisaono said. “We’ve been networking around clubs between Cleveland and Toledo. And around this area, anybody can learn a foxtrot and waltz but where are you going to do it, except for a wedding?”

There’s no doubt about it, over the past few years “Dancing with the Stars” has increased interest exponentially about ballroom dancing. As for the show itself, Pisaon said her current favorite is Derek Hough and Ricki Lake. In fact, she’s met Hough, along with the show’s professional dancer Tony Dovolani. She even took a lesson from the latter.

Regarding salsa dancing and the upcoming party, Pisano’s message to the public is simple: “It’s a fun, social dance,” Pisano said. “It’s easy, not too complicated and it’s a dance anybody can learn.”

The Salsa Dance Party takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 23 at All About Dance Productions’ studio, 607 Main Street, 3rd Floor, Huron. The cost is $3 for All About Dance students and $5 for guests. Salsa food and beverages will be provided. Guests can bring a potluck dish but it’s not required. For more information, call 419-921-4192 or visit allaboutdanceproductions.com.
