Top five picks for this weekend

Morgan Addington-Hodge • May 12, 2015 at 6:28 PM

If the Funcoast TV weekly update video just didn't have the right event for you here are our top five picks for this weekend.

1.)    Funcoast.com Sizzling Summer Cruise Event

Why you should go: Because we’ll be there — giving away free stuff. Come hang out with us at D & D Winery as we give away tickets to our Sizzling Summer Cruise in September, as well as Funcoast swag and some other cool prizes. We’ll be throwing plenty of parties leading up to the end-of-summer cruise, but you won’t want to miss any of them.

WHEN: 6-8 p.m. August 4

WHERE: D & D Winery, 401 W. Main Street, Norwalk

COST: Free

INFO: Funcoast.com

2.)    Sandusky Art Walk: Plein Aire

Why you should go: It's a great time for the family with all sorts of art to enjoy. Plus you can put to use those outdoor painting skills you know are just hiding in you, waiting to be released. Check out our story on the event here. Get a map of this month's event by clicking here.

WHEN: 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Thursday, August 4

WHERE: Downtown Sandusky.

COST: Free

INFO: Funcoast.com

3.)    Smokin' Country Concert

Why you should go: It says concert, but if you ask us it seems more like a 3 day country music festival. You can camp out at the location and enjoy some pretty big names in country music, like local favorite Crystal Bowersox. Plus it's weekend long music festival that you don't have to travel to somewhere like California, Chicago or even Cleveland for!

WHEN: 4-10 p.m. Friday, August 5; 12-10p.m. Saturday, August 6; 12-6 p.m. Sunday, August 7

WHERE: Cole Farms, 4591 S SR 19, Bloomville

COST: Prices available at smokincountryconcert.com

INFO: smokincountryconcert.com or call 419-983-4222

4.)    2011 World's Longest Yard Sale A.K.A. The 127 Corridor Sale

Why you should go: I think the awesomeness of this event is pretty self evident. It's a yard sale that is 675 miles long and extends from Hudson, Michigan all the way to Gadsden, Alabama. For all the information you could possibly need on the event visit their website by clicking here. You can also download the brochure here and the map here.

In Williams County Ohio, the last area before the Michigan line, ODOT has closed Route 127 to repair a bridge!! There is an easy garage sale enthusiasts detour between Bryan, OH and Pulaski, OH. DO NOT FOLLOW THE POSTED DETOUR SIGNS! If shoppers stay on US 127 north through Bryan, Ohio they only need to take a very short detour to go around the bridge that is out on US 127. They will turn north on County Road 15-75 and go one mile to County Road H, turn east one mile and they are right back on US 127 northbound, or vice versa going south from the Ohio Michigan line, West Unity area and Pulaski.

WHEN: August 4 - 7

WHERE: All over the place, check out the map for specifics.

COST: Gas money and spending money

INFO: World's Longest Yard Sale Website

5.)    City WIde Sidewalk Sale

Why you should go: Who doesn't love a chance to just stroll around in a beautiful downtown, listen to some music and do a little shopping?

WHEN: August 5 - 7

WHERE: Downtown Vermilion

COST: Free + spending money

INFO: 440-967-4477
