Every hero deserves his or her chance in the spotlight. And now local heroes will have that opportunity during the Heroes Challenge, scheduled for June 6 at Kalahari’s Safari Outdoor Adventure Park.
The challenge, which is held in conjunction with Ohio Bike Week, is a timed endurance competition between local fire, police, paramedic and border patrols. Teams of two competitors will use the park’s zip lines, rope course, climbing wall and a dummy drag.
In addition to the athletic portion of the event, visitors can enjoy an Ives Family Motocross freestyle exhibition, a free bike wash and live music from Steve Brownell.
“This is a great event for our local public service departments to have some competitive fun, and their family, friends, even the public is welcome to come watch them,” said Kalahari Marketing Manager Kristann Hartley.
Although Kalahari does not have a final count on teams, each team pays a $10 entry fee, which will be donated to the Andrew Dunn family. Hartley said they will provide a pass the boot, and proceeds will benefit the winning department’s charity of choice. The winning team receives bragging rights along with a Kalahari overnight stay for each team member.
