Take the family out to Bike Week

Not everyone thinks that Bike Week is for kids, but the turth is, there are plenty of opportunities to bring the gang out for some family-friendly fun. These picks below are great events that everyone can enjoy.

Kick Start Party

• WHEN: 2 p.m., June 3

• WHERE: Mad River Harley-Davidson, 5316 Milan Road, Sandusky

Mad River Harley Davidson will be throwing an Ohio Bike Week kick-start party at 2 p.m. June 3. There will be vendors of handmade wares, the blessing of the bikes at 3 p.m., official OBW 2011 t-shirts for sale, music, food and plenty more.

Blessing of the Bikes

Get your bike over to Mad River Harley-Davidson at 3 p.m. June 3 for the official blessing of the bikes, which will kick-start day one of Ohio Bike Week.

Put-in-Bay Day (with Hog Roast & Pool Party)

• WHEN: 4 p.m. June 5

• WHERE: Put-in-Bay Resort, 439 Loraine Ave., Put-in-Bay

The destination of the June 5 Mad River Harley-Davidson daily ride, Put-In-Bay day promises to be a great day for the entire family with a hog roast and pool party.

Heroes Challenge

• WHEN: 5 p.m. June 6

• WHERE: Kalahari Waterpark Resort, 7000 Kalahari Dr., Sandusky

The Heroes Challenge will take place at Kalahari’s Outdoor Adventure Park at 5 p.m. on June 6. Firefighters, police and EMS compete in this vigorous endurance challenges on the high ropes and zipline course. Plus, you’ll also enjoy an Ives Family Motocross freestyle exhibition, a free bike wash and live music from Steve Brownell.

Pancake Breakfast

• WHEN: 9 a.m. June 6-9

Mad River Harley-Davidson is having a pancake breakfast for any and all Ohio Bike Weekers who would like to enjoy some delicious pancakes for free. They start serving them at 9 a.m. — but get there early, because they won’t last long.

Ekoostik Hookah (with opener Ebin’s Flow)

• WHEN: 6 p.m. June 6

• WHERE: The Jack Daniels Barrel House Saloon, 101 E. Shoreline Dr., Sandusky

The Shed presents Ekoostik Hookah with opener Ebin’s Flow at The Jack Daniels Barrel House Saloon in downtown Sandusky. Ekoostik Hookah always puts on a concert that’s loads of fun for the whole family, and Ebin’s Flow will do the same. Bring the kids and the hula-hoops and get ready for a fun time.

Founder’s Day Parade

• WHEN: 2 p.m. June 11

• WHERE: Roeder Racing, 3684 Rt. 20 W., Monroeville & Downtown Sandusky

The Founder’s Day parade leaves Roeder Racing at 2 p.m. and lands in Sandusky at

3 p.m. The parade will be welcomed by vendors and events that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
