Some say alcohol and boating don’t mix. Those people have obviously never been on a Booze Cruise.

Okay, it’s officially called the Friday Night Party Cruise. But let’s face it: it’s the Booze Cruise. The first official cruise is slated for May 27 and will run every Friday night through Labor Day weekend.

“It’s a great way to unwind from the week,” said Goodtime I owner Joe Lamb. “People work real hard and this is a chance for them to get out and enjoy the island atmosphere.”

All those hard-working folks can get that island atmosphere when the boat leaves the Jackson Street Pier in downtown Sandusky at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and then floats on over to Kelleys Island. While waiting to set foot on land, the Goodtime offers the cash bar and a DJ for those who just can’t wait to get their party on. The boat then departs from Kelleys Island at 11 p.m. for partygoers who left Sandusky at 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. for those who set sail at 9 p.m.

“It’s a great party atmosphere,” Lamb said. “It’s pretty much the only dance club atmosphere that you can do it on the water.”

To guarantee a spot on the boat, Lamb suggests people call for tickets about a week in advance.

Lamb said people should bring cash, a valid ID—it’s required to board and, of course, cruisers must be 21 years old—and should watch the weather to determine if they need a raincoat. Beyond that? “Leave the rest to us,” he said.
