Live blog: St. Patty's Day on the North Coast - updated 5:17 p.m.

Ashley Bethard • May 12, 2015 at 6:28 PM

The biggest drinking day of the year is here! St. Patrick's Day kicks off bright and early here on the North Coast, and we plan on having you covered from Irish-inspired coffee and kegs and eggs to the late-night costume parties. Stay tuned to Funcoast.com for all of your St. Patty's Day news.

8:50 a.m. - Christy - Mr. Smith's Coffee House

Christy made a pit stop at Mr. Smith's Coffee House in downtown Sandusky because she just knew that there was going to be some delicious Irish drinks. They've got a special brew of Irish Cream coffee, which is the "taste of sweet cream blended with rich Colombian coffee" (pictured above). Their featured drink is the Irish Truffle Latte, which sounds pretty yummy.

For lunch, they've got you covered, too: think Reuben paninis. If you want to follow us on your mobile device, simply check us out on Foursquare (search for Funcoast.com) or on Twitter (@Funcoast).

9:21 a.m. - Christy, Sara, Ashley B. & Ashley F. - Water Street Bar & Grille

We're finally here at Water Street for the famed breakfast of kegs and eggs. It's going on from 9-11 a.m., so you've still got time to come down and hang out with us! In addition to green beer and a slew of great St. Pat's specials (see board above), they've got a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast for just $4 (yes, $4!). We'll be updating with more yummy photos once we get our food, so stay posted!

9:49 a.m. - Well, it's finally here. This is what a delicious kegs and eggs breakfast looks like:

10:28 a.m. - Ashley and Dawn, our lovely bartenders at Water Street, were kind enough to fix us a delicious Mint Shamrock, which is one of their featured drinks of the day. It's delicious, with just the right blend of mint and chocolate, and tastes like a liquefied Thin Mint.

 Also, there's plenty of swag:

10:37 a.m. - UPDATE: We've just been told that the delicious kegs and eggs at Water Street has been extended until 2 p.m., so you'll have a chance to come in and get your eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast

11:07 a.m. - Ashley B., Christy, Ashley F. & Brent - Daly's Irish Pub

We're here at Daly's, where there's green beer o' plenty and a delicious Double Chocolate Stout:

We are also pleased to announce (at the urging of our awesome bartenders) that the bathrooms are spic and span.

Here's a freshly-made black and tan:

11:39 a.m. - The food specials at Daly's are tasty and Irish-themed. There are Reuben sandwiches for $7, a corned beef and cabbage dinner for $8, corned beef on rye for $6, Irish stew for $4 and a slice of key lime pie for $3.

12:00 p.m. - Be sure to check back soon for videos from Water Street Bar & Grille and Daly's. We'll also have Funcoast.com team members out and about this afternoon in Norwalk, so stay tuned to Funcoast.com.

12:42 p.m. - Our Funcoast.com team members are headed to Norwalk, where we'll get photos and updates from The Office Bar, The Glass Bar and Bluto's. Stay tuned for food and drink specials!

1:15 p.m. - Irish music is pumping through the speakers and the party is in full swing here at Daly's. It's not as insanely packed as it was last year, but there are plenty of people decked out in green (as well as people enjoying some Irish fare on their lunch break). Check out this delicious slice of key lime pie at Daly's (just $3):

Also, the free swag they're giving away includes some pretty cool Guinness tattoos:

1:35 p.m. - Ashley F. - Office Bar, Norwalk

Ashley F. has just hit the Office Bar, her first spot in Norwalk. They've got Reuben sandwiches and potato soup for $7.50. It looks like the lunch crowd has just cleared out, but they're preparing themselves for a huge turnout tonight. Paul Franks is set to take the stage at 9 p.m., so come on out for some live music!

OB's happy hour is running until 7 p.m., and there are discounts on literally everything. Oh, and did we mention they've got green Bud Light on tap?

1:52 p.m. - Ashley F. - Bluto's, Norwalk

Apparently, Bluto's is a St. Pat's hot spot. They've got cheesecake shots for $2, green Jell-O shots for $1, chocolate-covered strawberry shots for $3, pudding shots for $2. For those who like their beer, there is a special on Killian's — if you purchase a 22 oz. for $7.50, you get to keep the glass, and refills are just $3.50. Food specials include a corned beef club and a boiled dinner for $7.50. Ashley F. tells us that the chocolate-covered strawberry shot is "absolutely delicious!"
