“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” isn’t what you’d expect. But then, neither are the Herdmans.

No doubt your parents have warned you about kids like the Herdman family. They steal, scream, fight and even smoke cigars. All six of the Herdman kids, who have never been seen inside of church, have shown up now that they found out the minister was giving out free desserts. If that wasn’t bad enough, they’ve also decided that they should have major roles in the church’s Christmas play. Needless to say, the whole town is horrified.

Every cloud has a silver lining though, and the horrible Herdmans are somehow able to turn a series of disasters into “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” — much to the townsfolk’s surprise. With laughter and tears, the town and the Herdmans may discover the true meaning of Christmas.

The dinner and show option is $30 per person. Creative Cuisine will cater the event, and the menu consists of rigatoni with meat sauce or Alfredo sauce, Tuscan salad with homemade creamy Italian dressing, parmesan parley bread twists, tiramisu and a coffee bar.

Tickets for the show only are $15 for adults and $10 for children. All tickets can be purchased at the State Theatre Mon.-Fri. from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sat. from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., or by calling 419-626-1950. Online ticket sales are available at sanduskystate.com. Sponsors for this production include Terra Community College, Gene Ptacek & Son Fire Equipment Company and Buckeye CableSystem.
