Whether they had a ticket to the Big Splash Raffle or not, everyone headed to the Erie County Fairgrounds Friday night to enjoy food, drinks, early prizes and live entertainment from the Earthquakers.
For those who were able to splurge on the $100 tickets to help support the Maritime Museum of Sandusky, the coveted prizes were lined up inside a side building for everyone to see. There were Ford Mustangs, two Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Ford pickup trucks and more, and hopeful ticket holders were snapping photos and checking out the goods.
Vendors lined paths throughout the fairground, providing all kinds of food from sausage and pizza to melt-in-your-mouth funnel cakes. The majority of the party, however, was in the main fairground building, where the Earthquakers took the stage. The music was thunderously loud, but that didn’t seem to bother anyone — the indoor tables and bleachers were packed before 7 p.m., and there was no way to get through.
For those unfamiliar with an Earthquakers’s live set, they sure know how to bring the party. In between their rowdy, classic rock and country cover tunes, they were telling raunchy jokes and egging the audience on with their trademark phrase (which, due to explicit and/or inappropriate content, we cannot post here). Let’s just say that the beer was flowing freely.
