12 things to do this weekend

Ashley Bethard • May 12, 2015 at 6:28 PM

This weekend is pretty jam-packed — especially with high school theatre shows — which is great for those of you who want to see and appreciate some local talent.

Norwalk’s “The Music Man,” Perkins’ “Guys and Dolls” and Edison High’s “Godspell” are a few great shows to catch. Science Magician "Freddy Fusion" is perfect if you're looking for educational family entertainment. If you’re looking for something springy, make sure to check out the Antique Fair at Huron County Fairgrounds.

Antique Fair — Located in the Expo Building at the Huron County Fairgrounds. Come find some “new” old stuff!

Dinner Theatre—Finnegan’s Farewell — One of the most popular State shows, Finnegan’s Farewell is back.  In the spirit of Riverdance, it features the best of Irish dancing, music and singing. You’ll be treated to eulogies, sing-alongs and a missing corpse!

A European Wine Dinner — Hosted at Vermillion’s Chez Francois, this dinner will feature wines from eight countries.  It will start with a pre-tasting of six non-traditional varietal wines, followed by a seven-course dinner.

Movie Series: “Swimming Upstream” — This movie tells the inspirational story of Australian swimming champion Tony Fingleton. Overshadowed in his father’s eyes by his brothers, Tony displays an extraordinary swimming talent he feels will win his father’s heart.

The Music Man — Norwalk High School’s spring musical.

Godspell — Edison High School’s spring musical.

Guys and Dolls — The “perfect” American musical, presented by Perkins High School.

Shamrock Shenanigans — Perfect for the kids, your child will be able to paint and decorate a shamrock-shaped box for the leprechauns to fill with goodies on St. Patrick’s Day!

Prom & Spring Fashion Show — Just in time to showcase the latest styles for prom and spring. Macy’s will present makeovers and the latest tips for skin care.

St. Paddy’s Night — Getting in the spirit a little early never hurt anyone. This party (for ages 21 and up only) will have a costume contest, drinks, their famous soup, sandwich and salad bar and more.  Bring your friends!

5th Annual Bro.Bill Memorial Jam — Nothing like some music to shake the winter blahs. Featuring Geezer Rampage, Fire and Soul Burn, with an open jam night to follow.

Science Magician “Freddy Fusion” — Perfect for the kids! Entertaining, educational and funny.
