FREMONT
Three of the Oak Harbor horses moved Friday from the Sandusky County Fairgrounds accidentally ended up in Michigan.
Terry Figueroa, Arabian Rescue Mission president, said the horses were placed with a former owner who lives near Ottawa Lake, Mich., and whose barn is two driveways from the Ohio state line.
She said this was not known when the application was approved.
She said the organization is working to locate a trailer that could possible move the horses today (SUNDAY).
She said they are working so that all of the horses will be placed within 20 minutes of the Sandusky County Fairgrounds in Fremont, where the animals were housed after Ottawa County Humane Society volunteers rescued them from a farm near Oak Harbor where they were found sick and starving.
Figueroa said Arabian Rescue will have an open house Monday so other rescuers can pick up leftover supplies, such as horse feed and hay.
