A daring flight over open water 100 years ago at the dawn of the era of the airplane gave Cedar Point a place in aviation history.
Cedar Point officials haven't forgotten.
On Tuesday, they marked the 100th anniversary of Glenn Curtiss' historic 64-mile flight on August 31, 1910, from Euclid Beach in Cleveland to the beach by Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point. The flight set a record for a long distance flight over water.

If you read about Glenn Curtiss you will realize that he did far more to advance aviation than the Wright brothers, who were more interested in securing themeselves finacially.
