No foul play is suspected, but area detectives are investigating three unrelated deaths that occurred Tuesday in Sandusky and Vermilion.

They hope to make final determinations on the cause of the deaths — two of which occurred outside.

The first call came just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Sandusky police responded to 4407 Ferndale Drive and found 60-year-old Kenneth Nuber unresponsive and lying in his driveway. Rescue personnel tried to revive him without success.

It appeared he had been doing yard work when he collapsed, Sandusky police Det. John Orzech said.

Detectives and Erie County coroner Dr. Brian Baxter responded, and the body was later turned over to Ransom Funeral Home.

Later that day, at 8:43 p.m., detectives and the coroner were called to 1015 Fourth St. for an apparent suicide. Neighbors found Robert Chapman lying in an alley, between two garages, and bleeding heavily from his head. A neighbor performed CPR in an effort to save him.

Police removed a 9-mm handgun from the scene.

The coroner's office declined to comment on a preliminary cause of death until a report was received for both deaths from the Lucas County coroner's office.

Erie County Sheriff's detectives are also investigating the death of 24-year-old Krystle Antus, who lived with her boyfriend and his family at 4220 Ohio 60 in Vermilion.

The family found her not breathing and turning blue, lying in the living room floor on two mattress pads.

Deputy Keith Bodi performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Antus was taken to Community Health Partners in Lorain, where she was pronounced dead. The family told deputies Antus had been throwing up that day, including a half hour before she was found.

"Nothing in the home seemed out of the ordinary, and there were no signs of foul play," Deputy Nickolas Mazur wrote in his report.

The family said Antus did not have a spleen and had to be careful of what medications she took. They told deputies she was not on any medications or drugs.

Antus's body was sent for an autopsy, including toxicology reports, at the Cuyahoga County Coroner's office.

Those deaths came two days after friends found 33-year-old Brian Bachman dead on the living room floor at 2234 Pipe St.

Orzech said officers had been told Bachman was drinking at some point, but it's unknown how much he may have consumed.

The Erie County Coroner's office is waiting for preliminary autopsy reports and toxicology reports and declined to comment on a possible cause of death.
