Perkins trustees sell township hall to hospital
Aug 24
2010
Firelands Regional Medical Center will buy Perkins Township Hall for $1.65 million.
The township has sought to sell the valuable Milan Road property for more than two years. Trustees are still looking for a property to relocate township departments including zoning, highway, police and administrative.

First off too: here in ohio you immature person:
If our Elected Officials were planning on something of this scope that could possibly cost more money from the residents (in future levy requests) and the way the township operates it should be planned out and presented to the residents for input and approval. It is this secret, fly by the seat of your pants government operation BS that causes people that care, concern and frustration.
If the Trustees would have a PLAN on what they wanted to accomplish by moving to Columbus Ave. and had an idea on what it would cost and presented it to the residents we would feel more comfortable and maybe even support them. Instead this sounds like the Bell Ave. story all over again, coming up with a plan after they bought the property. ( Contrary to what former elected officials say, they were planning on moving to Bell Ave.)
Advise to the Trustees: Come up with a plan for the Columbus Ave. property, include the details, possible costs, future ideas, etc. Present it to the residents (newspaper, news letter, have a show and tell on the new property, just sell your concept), listen to the VOTERS then make changes that sound good and are repeated by everyone. While you are at it due the same for the fire department since they are sitting on the next property to go.
Then here in ohio, I will no longer have concerns and frustration that my tax money is being thrown away on secret political back door fly by the seat of your pant BS that has been the Perkins operational proceedure for decades. Other than that I am voicing my constitional right here.

I have to agree with Sam. Why does Firelands spend so much money on more property? Last month I read that Firelands was building a new medical center in Berlin township. WHY? Maybe Firelands is getting all ready to soak the people with higher medical costs once Obama's health care policies take effect. I also agree with Joker. The Perkins PD is right in the center of most of the businesses on 250 plus all that Cedar Point traffic. If my memory serves me correctly didn't Perkins buy that property on Bell Avenue to move all of the offices there? I think that it cost Perkins over $1 million because bonds were issued to pay for the property. Why not stay where they are at? The buildings are already in place. Will $1.65 million be enough to buy more property and construct new buildings? I doubt it. Who owns the property that Perkins is considering buying on Columbus Avenue?

And we wonder why health care costs are out of control. How many properties does Firelands need? Would any other private investor have paid that much in this economy?

Any time any politician says "trust me" or "you just have to trust us", RED FLAGS should go up immediately.

Hey chick n fish, your hyperbole is unwarranted. FRMC has plenty of parking thanks to the Sandusky Zoning Board's foresight in allowing the construction of the parking garage.
I feel this will come back to bite Perkins in the butt when their PD's fuel costs go up because let's face it 250 is the main stomping grounds of Perkins' Finest.
